That’s a really complicated question… Naturally, there are no official polls that anybody could trust even remotely. I also have lots of friends that know people back there or have recently come from there and claim what you say. But then I have family from there that feels very different. I read things from there that are very different. I know historically that doesn’t make any sense. I think, as an analyst, the problem here is all about selection bias. It’s whatever little bubble we live in. Most of my overeducated friends grew up in their tight little bubbles and only know and trust other people like themselves. Many of the folks that come from there and tell you everybody hates Russia are also self-selected, because they were the ones that chose to leave that place for some reason. As an immigrant myself, I don’t trust anything other immigrants say :-) my best guess would be that the more educated upper middle class type of folks are probably mostly pro western, but the blue-collar is likely still predominantly pro Russian. And the upper classes… well, that’s a whole other conversation. They do what’s good for them, regardless of Political affiliations.
